The Lord’s Fast

The holy laws of heaven were inspired by the Holy Spirit. They are of God. It is the written Word of God. It is Jesus’ laws which are in the Christian Bible. The human race was inspired by God to create the laws and statues in the Bible.

Can you deny the evil pleasures of the flesh that feels good? Do you want to do something about the evil in you or around you? This is what Jesus calls sin. Those that sin and love sin will pay the wrath of God. If you cannot deny this sin, then fasting helps.

What is a Fast

The Christian Fasting is for a sole purpose between Jesus and a human being or a group of people. Fasting is a sacrifice one does for Jesus, to kill the strength of the flesh and to strengthen the spirit of the man. To help align the spirit of a human with Jesus’ Spirit and his kingdom in heaven. This really is for Christians who need something to change for the better in their life. Christians, are sometimes convicted by the Holy Spirit to unite to fast for: a family, a group, a nation, or for a situation.

Before the Fast

The sacrifice begins but telling Jesus you want to fast for a certain circumstance. It starts by denying self of the pleasures of the flesh: which is the human pleasures of the mind and the body. hunger, thirst, and expecting something in return from Jesus for the sacrifice. Sometimes, I just fast for an hour or two. This is not much of a sacrifice but Jesus knows my reason. It has worked for me because Jesus still rewards me for my sacrifice. If you want to fast, follow the list below:

1.) Pray to begin the fast. You do not have to get on your knees.
2.) The Lord must know the reason for the fast.
3.) The time the fast starts.
4.) How long the fast will be: hours and/or days.
5.) The reason for the fast.
6.) The type of fast: avoiding consumption of fluids and food, or just avoiding food but drinking fluids like water. Note: If one is not healthy or has a debilitating health problems, talk with your physician about the fast so you know what medicines not to take or take.
7.) If you are married, it would be helpful to notify your husband.
8.) Anoint your head with oil if possible.

The Lord’s Fast

I like this fast because as you can see, it has many rewarding benefits.

Isaiah 58:6-14 King James Version
6.) Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burden, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?
7.) Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? When thou seest the naked, that the cover him; and that thou hid not thyself from thine own flesh?
8.) Then shall thy light break forth as the morn ing, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee: the glory of the LORD shall be thy reward.
9.) Then shalt thou call and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;
10.) And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noonday.
11.) And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.
12.) And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places thouh shalt raise up the foundation of many generations; and thou shalt be call, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.
13.) If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holdy day: and call the sabbath a delight the holy of the LORD honourable: and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words.
14.) Then shall thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the hath spoken it.

The Anointing Oil

To anoint an oil, to make it sacred for Jesus. To dedicate it to Jesus. So, buy or separate an oil in a separate bottle before the whole bottle of oil is used.  Most people use olive oil. The oil has to be anointed in prayer by a strong Christian person, by a Christian leader, or by a minister. They all must be born-again Christians.  In prayer, they must present it before God, dedicate it to God to anoint it.  This is to use it to anoint oneself with it or other people.  Using the oil that has been used for cooking or for other personal use will not be sacred to Jesus,

Before a Christian or a Christian leader prays or fasts, he or she puts a dab of the anointed oil on their own palm and with the finger tip, they put the shape of the cross on their forehead. This means to be anointed.

Exodus 30:31-33 King James Version
31.) And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, This shall be an holy anointing oil unto me throughout your generations.
32.) Upon man’s flesh shall it not be poured, neither shall ye make any other like it, after the composition of it: it is holy, and it shall be holy unto you.
33.) Whosoever compoundeth any like it, or whosoever putteth any of it upon a stranger, shall even be cut off from his people.

During the Fast

During the fast, the flesh “the carnal mind” must be submissive to the will of God instead of the human’s own will.  Secrecy is important to Jesus when one is fasting.  So, it must be done in secret. Only you and Jesus should know about it. Sometimes your mate may want to know but he/she should keep it a secret too.

Matthew 6:18 King James Version
18.) That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

While Fasting be Holy

1 Peter 1:16 King James Version
16.) Because it is written, Be ye holy: for I am holy..

The fast done for the Lord should be holy. One must stay true and pure in their seeing, hearing, speaking. In their mind and body, throughout the time of the fast. The list below will help one stay on the course with fasting:

1.) Pray in the Spirit. A born-again person prays in the Spirit because their own spirit has risen from the death called sin. In sin a person is spiritually dead not physically dead yet.
2.) Meditate on the Lord in the Spirit.
3.) Listen to Christian music.
4.) Watch Christian movies.
5.) Read your Bible.
6.) Study your Bible.
7.) Praise Jesus in the Spirit.
8.) Dance in the Spirit while listening to Christian music.
9.) Worship the Lord in the Spirit.
10.)Sing Christian songs. (Singing in the Spirit is more beautiful).
11.) Speak in Holy Spirit tongues.
12.) Converse with other Christians.
13.) Hang out with Christians.
14.) Use your talents for Jesus.
15.) Obey the 10 commandment especially for Sunday too.
16.) Go to a church on Sundays.
17.) Go to a church on days Bible Study is taught. The Church you attend must believe that Jesus Christ came in the flesh and that everything should be done in the Name of Jesus. Especially when you become a born-again Christian.

Ending the Fast

It is your scheduled time to break the fast. Sometimes, one could not stay true to the fast. It happens. It is OK but one must try to stay the course with the fast. If you were true to the fast. Congratulations! Jesus is a King and is Holy. We must respect his Word and we need to honor and reverence Jesus more than when one does for a human king. So, if you can go to a room by yourself and talk to the Lord. Thank the Lord for giving you strength to finish the fast.

Expecting an Answer from Jesus

Keep a memory of the events of your fasts, try to Journal your fast, This is to increase your understanding of fasting, how the Lord operates, and what mysteries he reveals to you, and other awesome experiences with the Lord or life with the Lord.

After the Fast

After the fast, the result is the more one fasts, the more their own spirit unites with Jesus’ spirit. The person who fasted will began to move in the spiritual realm. With Jesus’ Name, by his faith with his power, instead of in the carnal mind/flesh to commit sin.  Many prayers will be answered. One will experience many other mysteries of Jesus not known to too many people. One may also receive new talents that did not exist before. It is like opening a portal to heaven to continually have an intimate relationship with Jesus, see angels, have access to his treasures in heaven, and more. This is according to Jesus’ will on earth and in heaven for your life. Jesus is our God, Father, and our King! He is like a father to a son or like a father to a daughter.
